Current Staff
Dacia Peterson, State Program Manager. Dacia received her Bachelor of Social Work degree at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas in May of 2002. She earned her Masters of Social Work degree at the University of Kansas in Overland Park, Kansas in 2005. She has a LMSW with the state of Kansas. Dacia also completed internships in a psychiatric hospital for youth, a youth drug treatment
center, and in a middle school setting. She previously worked in foster care and adoption for over four years contracting with the state of Kansas. She has always had a passion for working with children and
families and believe every child deserves to have a forever family.
Downey Side in Kansas City provides two types of services.
* We recruit and train Downey Side families to adopt older children in the Kansas City area as well as throughout the United States. Downey Side has contracts with many states and is open to negotiating new contracts with other areas. In addition, Downey Side has a case management contract with the State of Missouri. We have a partnership with two other local agencies, Crittenton Children's Center and Catholic Charities to provide these services. Downey Side is responsible for the initial training and home studies for prospective foster families.
